My name is Sonia, and I live in France, most of the time. And if I am not in France, then, you probably will find me somewhere in Iceland, which I am lucky to be able to visit twice every year.
I fell in love with Iceland, and if you have been there, you probably understand why.
At first I enjoyed the landscapes of course, but then, I discovered the culture, watched all shows and movies available, started to learn the language, met a few people, and even got a kennitala – ok, the one for foreigners, but that’s a good start. Hiking and discovering the country is an ongoing process…
During one of my early trips, I stepped into a yarn store, to bring a souvenir. I had a look at the products and thought, oh well, let’s not buy classic yarn balls, let’s go for this very specific weird plate-ish thing, we’ll see how it goes.
And so the addiction began, with that feeling of having found my playground.
I then knitted sweaters for me (lots of sweaters), then for my family (lots of sweaters too), then for my friends, but my knitting addiction was growing stronger, so I had to find more people to knit for…
So, I had no choice : I had to open an online shop ! Which is why I started Icelandic Lopi Inspiration in 2022.
